Motor set for ZEISS 1b mount
The original version of the ZEISS 1b mount has a 220V 50Hz synchronous motor, which allows tracking but is unfortunately completely unsuitable for positioning. ASTRO ELECTRONIC has now developed a motor kit in which both axes are equipped with a high-quality stepper motor. This enables both quartz-accurate tracking and fast positioning on any object.
Declination motor
A SECM3 stepper motor with a 10:1 reduction gear is used. Together with the 144:1 worm gear, this results in a total reduction ratio of 1440:1.
It is also possible to disengage the worm from the worm wheel and turn the declination axis by hand.
The declination motor is arranged so that it does not hit anything when swivelling, and even a longer dovetail rail can be mounted without any problems. The motor can be adjusted in long holes to minimise play in the gears.
Right ascension motor
An SECM3 stepper motor is also used. The total reduction ratio from the motor to the telescope is 1508:1.
For the plug connector, an opening must be drilled or filed into the existing aluminium sheet.
The existing slip clutch is no longer in operation after the conversion. This is not a disadvantage, as you can move the motor at 5 different speeds using the FS2 hand control box.
