The Sphinx Deluxe 2 and the new remote control cancels the legendary Vixen Sphinx mounts to the next higher level.

The result is a mount for very demanding observers and astro photographers!

With the same precision stepper motors, like the top models of the Vixen SXD2 brings a new level of performance for this size mounts. The SXD2 is quieter and quieter in their tracking and the increased precision of the motors enables improved performance for long exposures in astrophotography.

This makes the SXD2 better than their predecessors and many other mount:

  • Precision stepper motors and micro-step motion control system: The heart of SXD2 the precision stepper motors, which provide better performance and responsiveness than previous models. The Micro-Step Motion Control System has powerful yet very quiet driving characteristics, which are implemented both in a fine movement and in a fast swing.
  • Built-camp: The camp of the RA and DEC axes and the screw shafts have been significantly improved, so that the load on the engine is reduced. The movement of the motors is thus much quieter than previous models.
  • More robust RA and DEC shafts: High precision and thick steel shafts in RA and DEC to increase the robustness of SXD2 mount.
  • High-precision worm gears: High-precision processing technologies eliminate errors of the worm gear. The edges of both worms and worm gears get an especially high smoothness and thus achieve a very high precision.
  • Declination axis serves as a counterweight: The massive motor units are arranged in the lower part of the declination axis, so that the focus of SXD2 is below the crossing point of the RA and DEC-axis. This results in less required counterweights.

The SXD2 mount comes complete with the new control Starbook Ten and can be operated both manually and computer controlled.

The Starbook Ten is much more than a hand-held controller with GoTo functionality!

Here are some feature of this extraordinary Astronomy computer

  • Large color LCD monitor: The Monitior of Starbook Ten has a 5-inch TFT Color Liquid Crystal Display with a high WVGA (800 × 480 pixels, 65,535 colors) resolution. In astronomical observations at night, the eyes of the observer the dark adapt. For this reason, the display can be changed to red backlight. The red light affects these dark adaptation not as much as white light. All command and direction keys can be illuminated in red to help you keep track, even in darkness. The illuminated buttons can be turned on or off.
  • Moon Map: You can view a map of the visible part of the moon on the screen. All major sights on the moon's surface are highlighted and can be selected for the GoTo function.
  • Fast CPU: The Starbook Ten has a CPU with 324 MHz clock rate, which is about 5 times as fast as the CPU of the old Starbook. Thus, the star map will load faster and makes the screen more vivid.
  • Simple menu: When Starbook Ten, you can call your celestial bodies both in the Scope, as well as in the chart mode. In addition, you can select your objects by scrolling the star chart in the chart mode. Frequently used menu you can find at any of the ten keys. This allows you to quickly and easily to reach the most important functions directly by pressing a key.
  • Large database: The Starbook Ten contains more than 270,000 celestial objects, including 258 977 stars from the SAO star catalog, 109 Messier objects, 7,840 objects and NGC 5386 IC objects, the sun, the moon and the planets of our solar system. Call the objects with their common names simply to.
  • P-PEC function: You can save a periodic error correction to improve tracking accuracy of the mount. It is saved and retained even if you turn off the power and take again the next time in operation.
  • On the hunt for satellites and comets: You can enter into the Starbook the orbital elements of a satellite or comet directly through the LAN connection of a PC. You can thus storing up to 10 satellites and comets in your Starbook.
  • Custom Objects: The Starbook Ten is user defined save objects capable. You can save on this way, more interesting celestial objects that you want to observe or photograph. You can enter position data of up to 10 objects directly or through the LAN connection of a PC.
  • Different tracking speeds: It is possible to change the tracking rate to the type of object that you observe. The movement of the sun, moon, planets and comets can be tracked at different speeds.
  • Extended alignment algorithm: you achieve accurate alignment of the mount by simply starting up two stars at a distance of at least ten degrees in succession and store them. You can enter the position data of up to twenty stars on the controller. If you save more stars for orientation within ten degrees, the controller will notify dialog box, since this would not lead to a more accurate positioning.
  • Starbook Ten has a large backup memory in which your information may be stored. This allows you to turn off the unit and to save the batteries. If the mount resume your work, the data will be stored.
  • Atmospheric refraction: This option allows you to compensate for the atmospheric refraction on the celestial objects near the horizon or decrease.
  • Cross Over Meridian: The mount has a safety feature that turns the optical tube in the opposite direction, when the observation object comes to its highest position to prevent hitting the optics at Mount. However, you can turn this feature on or off freely choose if you want to take pictures with your equipment.

In addition, the Starbook Ten has an expansion slot where you can retrofit an additional module. The optional module allows you to operate an automatic object tracking in Autoguider for Photography.
