The ideal travel mount for astrophotographers looking for stable equatorial tracking for their DSLRs
The GP photo guider comes with a built-in, illuminated polar finder scope, stepper motor tracking with a quartz-stabilised DD-3 controller, battery box, counterweights, tripod and carrying case.
Automatic tracking and maximum useful exposure times:
Lens focal length: 50mm / 100mm / 200mm - equivalent to
exposure times of: 30 minutes / 10 minutes / 5 minutes
The exposure times listed above are intended as guidelines only. They are dependent on the quality of the polar alignment and film resolution.
Our expert comment:
The mount has normal motor drive and does not have an auto-guider port. It is different from the standard GP mount only in that it has a ball head which allows the installation of a camera and a built-in polar finder. According to the manufacture, the running accuracy is in good enough to track using a camera with a standard lens for up to 30 minutes without error, assuming accurate polar alignment. Using a 200mm focal length lens, about 5 mins are possible.
