Auroras are among the most spectacular luminous phenomena in the night sky. You can both the North and also occur in the southern hemisphere, in Central European latitudes, they are an average of only three to five times a year. In collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Aeronomy, we have developed a poster to this natural phenomenon. The main motive is a very intense aurora, which was taken over by the Polish polar research station on Spitsbergen. This publication was prepared with the aim of the processes involved in the formation of a polar light, to explain clearly and logically and to make into an understandable context for non-physicists. Terms such as solar wind, magnetosphere and ionosphere are discussed and explained by means of sketches. Some pictures of the NASA and ESA have been used to explain.
