That star chart shows all stars, constellations and objects like nebulae (see below), that are visible in a certain area. The starry sky is not always the same, however: stars rise and set and in the summer you see a different sky than in the autumn, winter or spring.That is why the planisphere has another disc, on top of the star chart. This disc has a transparent opening, the horizon opening, that shows what part of the starry sky is visible at a certain date and time.
