Optolong Filter

This filter is for improving the contrast of deep-sky objects and dampening the sky background. This is achieved through a complex transmission characteristic which lets the lines of deep-sky objects pass but suppresses many sources of light pollution. Additionally, the unwanted sky background, caused by oxygen emissions in the atmosphere ("skyglow"), is reduced. This filter comes to use especially in light-polluted areas and can be used visually as well as photographically.

Unlike other filters which should attenuate light pollution, like UHC or CLS filters, this filter is a multi bandpass filter which has only minimal impact on the color rendition, so this filter is also suitable for photographing continuum sources like galaxies, globular clusters and reflection nebulae.

Warning: The filter can only be used with the EOS 6D, EOS 5D, EOS5D II and EOS 5DIII ! Newer models (EOS 6D II, EOS 5D IV) can not be used with this filter! The Filter stops the usual movement of the flip mirror. This causes camera malfuction with EOS 6D II and EOS 5D IV.

Please note that this filter must never be used as the only solar filter!

Hello everyone,

For a long time my local telescope store SkyHunters has helped me out with all of my astro questions and needs, but as one of their employees got ill, I decided to give it a try and try to first of all get the information that I needed and in the end, it the product will fit my needs - make an order.

Can't really comment on the quality of the product as the weather in Latvia from where I'm from has been miserable since October, but the service I got was outstanding.
Since day one Astroshop's team how been welcoming and answered all of my questions (even the stupid ones :D) that I had a hard time to understand as I have been into this hobby only for a year.

Shipping? At first I was worried do they even have the product in stock as advertised, but my concerns were only based on my experience dealing with online stores in Latvia.
Indeed the product was in stock and I received it in about a week even tho the store I'm usually purchasing my products from, who actually buy them from Astroshop, state that it usually takes around three weeks.

Not only I received my order, but they even attached a personal touch buy putting in a small pack of HARIBO candies. Seemed funny at first, but when I cooled down, I realised that this store is even more amazing than I originally though when picking up my package from UPS.
