When an astrophysicist is also a committed amateur astronomer, there must be some real enthusiasm behind it. This definitely applies to Gerhard!

Gerhard is an astrophysicist with a doctorate, and has been dedicated to amateur astronomy for more than 35 years. Sharing his knowledge and experience and spreading enthusiasm for astronomy is particularly important to him. For this reason, he has been active at public observatories and planetariums since 1986 and, since 2008, at adult education centres in the Rhine-Neckar region. The exploration of the Sun is his amateur astronomy focus on clear days, and in the evening he is fascinated by visually observing planets and deep sky objects.
