More about the series Dew Heater Ring...
The heated dew-prevention ring is extremely effective as it sits directly on the Schmidt plate. This prevents dew misting. As the heated ring can be permanently attached, there is no need to mount and remove it daily.
How does the heated ring work?
The heated dew-prevention ring replaces the plastic retaining ring on your telescope’s Schmidt plate and efficiently heats the front lens. The ring is made of lightweight, durable aluminium. Its rigid frame supports your telescope’s cabling and Schmidt plate. In comparison with other heated rings or strips which inefficiently heat the whole lens cell in order to warm up the glass, the Celestron heated dew-prevention ring heats the Schmidt plate directly, thus providing the most efficient heat transfer to prevent the build up of dew.
Simply connect the ring to an external 12V DC power source to get a uniform, continuous supply of heat which prevents dew, even in high humidity.
Also supplied with the ring:
- Cable management clip
- Power supply extension cable
- Paper cover to protect the Schmidt plate during installation
Our tip:
- To reach maximum dew protection levels and also maximise energy efficiency, use the 2X smart dew protection control system or the 4X smart current and dew protection control system. You can find both amongst our recommended accessories.
- A classic dew cap is not absolutely necessary but using one is recommended as less energy is then required to keep the lens free of dew.
