Product description

The flattener is a lens that evens out the field, as this is slightly curved by the primary optics. This curvature causes stars that are imaged at the edge of the field of view to be less sharp. The flattener, also called a field flattener, corrects this effect. Astrophotographers can then enjoy images where the stars remain sharp right out to the edge of the exposure. The flattener is installed between the telescope and the camera.

I'm an owner of a William Optics Z61 and I was struggling for years to get a flat field with a universal OVL flattener I was using for years.
After purchasing the TS Photo Flattener for 60 ED, I was initially amazed by the build quality. Beautifully machined CNC aluminum body with M54 threads on the telescope side and M48 threads for the imaging train. I set up my backfocus at 56mm (ASI 533-MM with 1.25" filters) and I went for a test under the stars. Right away the image was perfectly flat on all corners and zero tilt. Results also verified in ASTAP. This flattener by TS is the best product for the money.
