Experience the Moon and planets in a whole new light with this affordable set!
The colour filters highlight fine surface details of planets or their cloud structure. All filters can be used on any 1.25" eyepiece with a filter thread in the sleeve. Simply screw the filter onto the sleeve and insert the eyepiece into the telescope's focuser as usual.
This filter set contains the following colours:
- Deep yellow (Wratten #12): A good universal filter for telescopes with small apertures (less than 5 inches /127 millimetres). The yellow filter improves contrast when observing the Moon. It also accentuates the belts of Jupiter and Saturn, as well as clouds and the polar ice caps on Mars and atmospheric structures on Uranus and Neptune.
- Orange (Wratten #21): This filter reveals finer details of the regions on Mars by attenuating blue and green light. It also enhances the details of the cloud belts and polar regions on Jupiter and Saturn.
- Blue (Wratten #80A): This filter increases the contrast of the cloud belt on Jupiter and the polar ice caps on Saturn. It can also be used to increase the contrast on the Moon if you don't mind the colour shift.
- Neutral density filter ND-96-0.3 (Moon filter): This is a great filter for the Moon and for combining with other planetary filters to lower the brightness without changing the colour. A neutral density filter is also useful for separating double stars. Use it whenever you want to reduce the brightness without affecting the colour properties of an object.
Each filter has a clear aperture of 26 millimetres and is mounted in a black anodised aluminium frame that is threaded on both sides. This way you can combine various filters to create a certain effect. A special coating on each filter protects against reflections, ghosting and scratches.
A plastic container is included to protect your filters when not in use.
