How Ledlenser reinvented the torch

Many revolutionary products saw the light of day in a garage. Just like the first Ledlenser products. Because when Harald and Rainer Opolka founded the company Zweibrüder Optoelectronics in 1993, they really didn't have much more than a garage, an old Atari computer, a tool set, a sketch-pad and around 1,000 D-Mark starting capital. But that didn't prevent them from labouring through the night when inspiration struck, working hard and dreaming of great success during their few hours of sleep.

This is where light and expertise are combined: our headquarters.

Many months of research and development work must first take place before a new Ledlenser product can finally be produced. A total of 100 committed employees work at our headquarters in Solingen. But the exterior of the picturesque brick building is deceptive. Behind the thick walls are state-of-the-art offices, a lighting research centre and spacious workshops with the latest high-tech facilities. Here, in an area of 3,218 m², inspiration, design and discussion is followed by the production of many prototypes. The entire company is managed from these headquarters; research takes place, marketing is planned and every activity around the world is controlled. In short: this is where we combine all our expertise.
