On the occasion of the International Year of Astronomy (Iya 2009) was the organization of a special introductory telescope developed: The Galileo Scope. We wanted to make a high-quality telescope available, despite the extremely low price already impressive success on the first steps of the discovery of the hobby can teach astronomy.

Scope The Galileo is a refracting telescope or refractor: A long tube with a big lens at the front end and a small lens at the rear end. This design goes back to the great Italian scientist Galileo Galilei back, his telescopes were refractors. However, the scope Galilleo some important points from the 400-year-old design improves. During Galileo's telescopes still strong with the chromatic Aberrationzu faced, a coloring on the edge of the brighter astronomical objects occurs, the Galileo has already Scope Achromatic Lens : in the early 17th Century, scientists found that the combination of lens pairs of different materials, the coloring minimized.

The telescope consists mostly of exact ABS plastic (the main lens is made of glass), which within a few minutes of small children under the guidance of an adult can be assembled. The eyepiece is supplied in individual parts, the already functioning assembly are to be understood. The Galileo Scope comes with a selection of useful accessories. Included are a Barlow to double the magnification, accessories to mount the telescope on different tripods, a detailed instruction manual and a stand for storage. A special feature is the ability, through the conversion of the eyepiece after the telescope by Galileo original design with a concave Okularlinse to operate, or after the design of his contemporaries, Kepler. This used a convex Okularlinse and received as a much wider field of vision, although this was laterally and stood on his head. The Galileo Scope gives you the opportunity to both techniques with my own eyes to see and compare. The Okularaufnahme was popular in the 1.25 "format produced, which allow for easy use of optional accessories.
