More about the series Explorer...

This telescope set was compiled by our experts for you. It consists of the following articles:

N 150/1200 telescope:

A very good telescope for beginners and a must for experienced amateur astronomers! This Newtonian reflecting telescope collects so much light with its generous 150mm diameter that distant DSOs such as the Ring Nebula in Lyra or the Dumbbell Nebula become beautifully visible and globular clusters, such as M13, resolve into a multitude of individual stars at their edges. Planetary observing provides rich detail in images of Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and Mars. The f8 focal ratio helps make this reflector a real all-rounder suitable for both deep sky and planetary observing. The light gathering capacity of the150 is 460 times greater than with the naked eye alone.

The advantages in a nutshell:

  • compact, portable OTA
  • good value for money

The EQ3-2 mount:

This mount is a further development of the EQ-3 mount designed in white. It provides a stable base for most medium-sized optics and is ideal for exploring the night sky. Once you have aligned the parallactic mount with the Pole Star, you can easily sight on an object, adjust it in the field of view and track it using the flexible slow-motions. Fine adjustment is possible in both right ascension and declination. The polar elevation at the observing site can be set using the fine scale provided and adjusted perfectly by using two screws. Both polar finder and electric motors plus a control can be retrofitted to both axes: the EQ3-2 is suitable not only for visual observing, but also for getting started in astrophotography. With optional add-ons such as the motor kit or GoTo upgrade kit, long exposure astrophotography also becomes possible. With a little practice, you will soon be able to produce successful images of galaxies and nebulae.

Included with the mount:

  • mount with manual adjustment knobs
  • extra brace with eyepiece tray
  • suitable counterweights

It not only matters which telescope you buy but also where you buy it. Our additional services:

My first telescope

Review by MMart on 10.07.2018 15:41:30

( 4 / 5 )

As the title states, this is my first telescope. After some study and doubts cleared with astroshop staff, I picked one of the astroshop recommendations.

Thankfully, i added a collimation laser to the order which was quite handy after the assembly since the mirror was a bit off.

After that, i started the first observations and all the times, i had a great smile :) First with Moon (with awesome detail), Jupiter (and yes, you can see the stripes!! and so far I was able to see all Jupiters moons), Saturn (yes you can spot the rings). And its always fun to sweep the sky!

The mount is a bit woobly but for the set price, and for the rest of the accessories, its very acceptable.

I will for sure upgrade it but meanwhile i am having a lot of fun!
Recommended for sure. But if the reader has a larger budget, aim for a better mount.
