In short:
- Load capacity of up to 20kg without counterweights
- Built-in zero position and geolocation
- Controllable using ASCOM & INDI drivers or on the go using iOptron Commander Lite, SkySafari and Raspberry Pi
- Robust, durable full metal casing
Although the mount itself weighs only 6.2kg, you can mount telescopes weighing up to 20kg on this mount without the need for any counterweights.
The HEM44’s casing is made from CNC-machined metal which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also provides a robust foundation which will perform at a high level for many years.
Funitions such as an electronic brake and power-down storage enable the HEM44 to securely stop and start GoTo alignment, even after an unexpected power cut (no need for realignment and zero positioning). The mount can be controlled using a Windows PC (using the ASCOM or Commander drivers) or MacOS (using a third-party INDI driver), but also on the go using iOptron Commander Lite, SkySafari and a Raspberry Pi.
Our expert comment:
Please read the Quick Setup Guide (QSG) BEFORE setting up and operating the mount! Please also read the full online instruction manual for details. A HEM mount has an internal cable management system. To avoid cable damage, a mechanical stopper is implemented on the RA-axis in order to prevent rotation of more than 360 degrees. Due to the powerful torque of the strain wave gear in these mounts, damage to the stopper may occur, if
1.) “Site and Time” are incorrectly set and 2.) The mount is started from an incorrect Zero Position. Please perform these steps when initiating the HEM mount: “MENU => Zero Position => Searching Zero Position” in order to establish Zero Position. Then manually slew the mount past the meridian by 20 degrees.
