More about the series Gimbal Head...
How is it possible to move really heavy telephoto lenses as easily as a feather? With a gimbal suspension mounted on a sturdy tripod! There are several names for this useful instrument, which is particularly common in the USA, where it is called a gimbal head. In German, the technical term Kardankopf is probably the most accurate, although many photographers simply refer to it as Affenschaukel (monkey swing).
Leofoto PG-4 Gimbal Head – Powerful & price-conscious
The new Leofoto PG-4 is the smart choice for anyone who values maximum load capacity with minimum weight – and all at an attractive price. With a load capacity of up to 30 kg, this gimbal head is perfect for heavy telephoto lenses and spotting scopes. Whether for nature observation, sports photography or astronomy – wherever speed and precise control are required, the PG-4 shows its strengths.
Thanks to the panorama scale and integrated spirit level on the tripod base, precise alignment is child's play. The adjustable height and longitudinal axis ensure that your equipment is always perfectly balanced – ideal for effortless panning without trailing.
New: redesigned locking knobs for precise control
The newly developed, ergonomic locking knobs allow sensitive control of friction and ensure reliable position locking when required. This gives you full control at all times – even during fast movements or long observation phases.
Leofoto uses high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloy components for the metal parts. This corrosion-resistant material is characterised by high strength and good toughness. The yield strength is comparable to that of structural steel. All parts are milled from solid material on state-of-the-art CNC machines and are therefore significantly more stable than cast parts. Leofoto makes no compromises here either !
