The Goethe-table barometer, also called weather glass or thunder glass, consisting of a ball which is partially filled with water and has a beginning at the bottom of the neck that leads sideways and up and is open to the atmosphere.
When atmospheric pressure, the air bubble is compressed in the barometer ball, and this changes the water level: In the ball he rises in his throat he falls. Since the neck is relatively little water, the rise and fall of the water level makes them particularly noticeable here.
Quite as accurate as a mechanical barometer of this barometer is not, but very beautiful!
Note: The Galileo thermometer is made of thin glass. It is for this reason not toys.
