With the alignment telescope, you can perfectly align your telescope in just a few minutes.
With most alignment aids, it is difficult to identify the individual elements visible when looking through the telescope. This makes precise adjustment difficult and the process time-consuming and imprecise.
With the TS alignment telescope, these problems are a thing of the past: you use the sliding focus to focus on the element to be aligned (e.g. the secondary mirrors) and are not distracted by the other components or reflections.
Thanks to the integrated lighting, the telescope can also be aligned in bright surroundings. The generously sized battery provides an operating time of approx. 20 hours, meaning that even with frequent use – for example in a professional setting – recharging is rarely required.
- Using an alignment laser: Particularly with RC telescopes, the axis of the focuser flange should first be set correctly. The commonly used method of simply aligning with the centre mark on the secondary mirror can lead to a deterioration in the alignment. A laser is used for this adjustment. With other alignment aids, you have to switch between the laser and the alignment device. With the TS alignment telescope, however, the laser can be connected directly.
- Using a camera: Instead of the eyepiece, a camera can be inserted into the 1.25" port of the TS collimation telescope. If you are collimating your telescope without a focuser – i.e. with the collimation telescope screwed on directly – a camera must always be connected to the 1.25" clamp, as there must be a means of adjustment for focusing. If you are collimating with an eyepiece holder, you can also use the T2 thread to mount the camera. Depending on the flange focal distance of the camera, one of the two T2 extension rings may need to be removed.
- Aligning smaller RC telescopes: For RC telescopes with six- and eight-inch apertures, the circumferential light gap (the gap between the baffle tubes) is usually used to align the primary mirrors. On newer telescopes, this gap is no longer visible, meaning this alignment reference is missing. Alternatively, the brackets for the secondary mirror struts can be used; however, these are difficult to see, which makes the alignment result inaccurate. With the TS alignment telescope, you can see these brackets clearly magnified and align the telescope with ease.
- Aligning refracting telescopes: Thanks to the bright integrated lighting, refracting telescopes can also be aligned with ease. The different-coloured (depending on the coating) and varying-sized ring-shaped reflections on the surfaces can be emphasised or reduced using the sliding focus mechanism.
