The USB_Dewpoint is a remote controller for exchange protection heaters
Once your photo session is running smoothly, you often feel uncomfortable when surfaces become damp or there are other signs of increasing humidity. Until now, the only reliable solution was to heat the tube or mirrors as best as possible – with serious disadvantages such as energy waste or air turbulence in or in front of the tube.
USB_Dewpoint is a new way to solve the problems of high humidity!
First, the controller continuously calculates the dew point using the humidity sensor located near the instrument. It then compares the temperatures supplied by two external sensors (attached to the tube or mirrors) with the dew point. If the values are too close to the dew point, the controller heats gently or aggressively. It can also be described as a heating controller. On the other hand, the USB_Dewpoint consumes only 0.05 W of power when no heat is required. The controller is connected to the USB port of a computer or hub (USB 2.0 / 1.1) for remote control and can be operated manually or autonomously. It controls 3 outputs for heaters or other equipment with 12 volts DC as the nominal voltage and a maximum power of 24 watts each (flat box, fan, etc.).
Advantages and features at a glance:
- An external humidity and temperature sensor for calculating the dew point in real time
- Two loose temperature sensors (accurate to 0.1 °C) can be attached to the tube, objective or mirrors
- Three independent outputs for connecting heaters or fans with up to 72 W (3x 24 W)
- The outputs use duty cycles in the range from 0 to 100% and in steps of 1 to 10
- The controller runs in manual or automatic mode and with or without a computer
- Automatic mode prevents the temperature of the telescope components from coming too close to the dew point. The difference to the dew point can be set from 0 °C to 9 °C - independently for Output1 and Output2 (+ Output3, if activated)
- Manual mode enables remote control and remote data retrieval using the associated USB_TelescopeController software (and remote control via Wi-Fi)
- All outputs use fast MOSFETs, so no energy is wasted
- All outputs are independently fused
- Output 2 can be linked to output 3 to double the available power
- Output 3 (if not linked to output 2) can be used for remote fan control
- A red LED indicates activity in real time
