World first in 2024
In 2024, Eschenbach Optik presented the world first optaro®, the first reading aid specifically designed for the iPhone, at the SILMO trade fair in Paris. This innovative electronic vision aid enhances the iPhone with a full HD camera with 3x to 15x magnification and a wide field of view to provide practical and powerful support for people with visual impairments.The optaro® app, available free of charge from the Apple App Store, allows individual settings such as magnification, 14 contrast-enhancing false colour modes and reading support through reading lines or the "say it" function, which reads aloud the central reading area. Thirteen matching dust covers for various iPhone models or a magnetic universal stand are available for mounting the camera module.
