High performance for your observatory - The Vixen GAIAX mount
The Vixen Gaiax mount provides you with mechanical excellence for your private or public observatory. This large heavy duty mount has a carrying capacity of 44kg - You can use your high-end instrument, e.g. 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with astrophotographic equipment or even with an 8" refractor plus accessories on this solid base. The Gaiax has been specifically designed for the precision operation of large telescopes used for astrophotography.
Less is more - The high precision Gaiax
Astrophotographers always dream of a mount that runs extremely precisely: With only 2.5" arc-seconds of worm gear periodic error, the Gaiax is one of the most high-precision mounts on the market. The auto guider therefore only needs to perform the most minimal adjustments, so taking perfect astro-photos is made even more easy.
Excellent stability for large telescopes
At 50kg in weight, the Gaiax mount is both substantial and stable, offering over-dimensioned DEC and RA axis units with beefy multiple bearings. The worm wheels are constructed from brass, with 216 teeth on each axis.
Easy transport is also possible: the DEC housing can be separated from the RA block. This significantly reduces the weight of the individual parts to be transported. The connection sockets on the Gaiax are top quality and clearly superior to those of most other mounts. The metal bayonet-connection SUB-D connector snaps into place with a satisfying 'click' and is self-locking.
An astronomical database for the night sky - the Vixen Skysensor 2000
But what use would be a mount be without the right control? What is still lacking in many mounts comes already supplied with the Gaiax: The Vixen Skysensor 2000 control. This precision GoTo system can autonomously slew to any point in the sky. The oversized buttons make the hand control easy to use even when wearing gloves in winter. The LCD display has a red illuminated background and functions perfectly even at low subzero temperatures.
Never used the Skysensor before? No problem, as its operation is highly intuitive. Even on the first night of observing, learning to use the basic functions is very simple.
Of course, you can also use the Skysensor 2000 for your astrophotography - it provides additional PEC correction and has an auto guider interface.
The polar finder scope
The built-in 6x30 polar finder scope has internal adjustable lighting and a button spirit level. Precise and rapid alignment with the North Pole can be carried out by using the setting rings or via the current position of Polaris with respect to the pole.
Counterweights and shaft
The Gaiax mount comes supplied with three 9.5kg counterweights. The 25mm diameter counterweight shaft is 310mm in length and can extended from the mount and fixed directly in place. A total of up to four counterweights may be used.
Connecting to your telescope
The Gaiax has a large head with eight threaded holes for receiving the, included, base plate. The solid 400x150x15mm plate allows you to further adapt your telescope.
