Orion Stratus 8mm wide angle eyepiece
This 8mm wide angle eyepiece has a 1.25" connector and a generous 20mm of eye-relief. It provides a 68 degree field of view for a great 'overview' of the night sky. The lens elements are fully multicoated to maximize light transmission and the lens edges have been blackened to ensure excellent contrast.
If you belong to the kind of amateur astronomer who has only recently started exchanging their old eyepieces for new wide angle ones, then you will have been amazed by the incredibly expanded field of view they provide.
As a telescope user, you will be impressed by the wide angle realm offered by these Stratus eyepieces. With an apparent field of view of 68° - around 71% more area visible than with a typical 52° Ploessl eyepiece - the view is more like that through a spaceship window, or as though you were looking at a large TV screen. Experience a hitherto unimagined vision of the universe through these Stratus eyepieces and experience objects 'up close' and not as though you are looking down a tunnel. You will never want to go back to your old Ploessls!
But it is not only the field of view of Stratus eyepieces which will open your eyes. These eyepieces have a sophisticated eight-element optical design, providing an extremely large 1.25" diameter eye lens as well as 20mm of eye relief. So you can enjoy the incomparable view even if you wear spectacles. The full multi-coated lenses significantly increase light transmission. In addition, all lens edges have been blackened to ensure excellent contrast.
Stratus eyepieces can be used both in 1.25" and in 2" focusers. All these eyepieces have fold-down rubber eyecups and are rubber coated to provide a good grip. Additionally, the chrome-plated barrel has a locking screw provided. The eyepieces come equipped with filter threads as standard. Dust covers for the exterior lenses are also included.
