The TOE 58° series bears the term ‘orthoscopic’ in its name, as it delivers high-contrast images and exceptional resolution at higher magnifications. This makes them ideal for high-resolution observations of the lunar surface and the Planets.
Unlike the previous TOE series, which had an apparent field of view of 52°, the new 58° models feature a different optical design comprising eight lenses in five groups. This ensures consistent sharpness across the entire field of view.
In simulations using a TOA-130N telescope, the visual Strehl ratio at the edge of the field of view reaches 96.0% for the TOE-2.5 mm 58°, 93.4% for the TOE-3.3 mm 58° and 96.3% for the TOE-4.0 mm 58°. With these values, almost all the energy of the visible light falls within the diffraction-limited Airy disc.
The apparent field of view of 58° provides a natural and comfortable field that can be taken in without moving your eyes. The eye relief is generous enough to allow you to hold the telescope in a natural position above the lens. This enables fatigue-free observation.
A short-focal-length telescope combined with a high-performance TOE eyepiece allows for high magnification whilst maintaining the compact dimensions of the entire system: ideal for outdoor lunar and planetary observation!
