In brief:
- Suitable for full-frame sensors
- No change to the telescope focal length
- Back focus of 55 mm
- For triplet refractors with 115 mm aperture
The Tecnosky 2.5" Full-Frame Flattener is primarily designed for the brand's own triplet refractor with a 115 mm aperture and 800 mm focal length – but it can also be used with triplets from other brands and flattens the image field right to the edge, even for full-frame sensors. It does not change the telescope focal length (1x). With the standard M48 connection and 55 mm back focus, all DSLR cameras and accessories can be connected without any problems.
The flattener is a lens that evens out the field, as this is slightly curved by the primary optics. This curvature causes stars that are imaged at the edge of the field of view to be less sharp. The flattener, also called a field flattener, corrects this effect. Astrophotographers can then enjoy images where the stars remain sharp right out to the edge of the exposure. The flattener is installed between the telescope and the camera.
Our expert comment:
This full-frame flattener is specially designed for the Tecnosky Triplet 115/800.
