The WandererAstro FETA M92 combines a high-precision electronic focuser with motorised tilt and back-focus adjustment in a compact housing. The system has been specially developed for discerning astrophotographers.
At its heart are three independently controllable adjustment points. For motorised focusing, all three points are moved synchronously. This allows the FETA M92 to function like a precision electronic focuser. In tilt mode, however, the three points can be controlled independently of one another to compensate for any tilt of the camera sensor relative to the optical axis. In this way, for example, variations in star images at the corners of the frame can be corrected.
The total travel distance is 4 mm and is available for both focusing and tilt correction. The effective positioning accuracy is 0.2 µm. This enables the system to achieve extremely fine and reproducible adjustments.
A notable feature is its low profile: the FETA M92 requires only 15 mm of optical path between the two mounting surfaces. The maximum housing thickness is 20 mm. At the same time, the robust construction allows a load capacity of up to 8 kg with a centre of gravity distance of 100 mm.
Both connection sides feature M92×1 internal threads, as well as twelve M3 threaded holes each for screwing on the appropriate adaptors. The supplied connection adaptors also allow the use of M85 external and internal threads, as well as M92 external threads.
Controls are via the WandererEmpire software. An ASCOM focus driver and NINA integration are also available for integration into automated imaging workflows. Automatic tilt correction can be implemented in NINA in conjunction with the Hocus FOCUS plugin.
A fixed mechanical zero point with automatic calibration makes operation in remote observatories particularly straightforward. The fully enclosed housing also protects against unwanted light ingress.
