A map wheel makes it easy to determine the distance between two points on a map. First, match the scale of the map with the scale on your map scale. On some instruments, the scale can be adjusted, while others display multiple scales. Then simply move the wheel along the planned route. Using the measuring pointer in conjunction with the revolution counter or the display, you can then determine the distance of your route.
