Amgala 001 is a beautiful meteorite discovered in 2022 in the Western Sahara near the village of Meharrize. This meteorite is officially classified as a Martian shergottite and is one of only 307 meteorites of this type.
The physical characteristics of Amgala 001 reveal its extraordinary journey through space. The surface of the stone is weathered to a brown colour and exhibits a characteristic rough texture. Upon closer analysis, however, experts discovered a rich green-grey Kern inside, illuminated by darker olivine phenocrystals, which lend the meteorite its unique beauty.
