The Al Haggounia 001 meteorite was discovered in 2006 near the town of Al Haggounia, Morocco. Several tonnes of material were found scattered over an area of approximately 40 kilometres, which have been attributed to a meteorite fall. The fall must have occurred several thousand years ago.
The meteorite is classified as an achondrite with the subclass aubrite. These meteorites are characterised by their high content of the mineral enstatite.
