With the EQ platform, you get motorised tracking in the hour axis for your dobson telescope.
The platform is available in two sizes:
- Size 1 for dobson telescopes up to an aperture of 16" (406 millimetres) and a maximum weight of 60kg
- Size 2 for dobson telescopes up to an aperture of 24" (610 millimetres) and a maximum weight of 90kg
And this is how it works:
Set up the platform at ground level, a spirit level is helpful. The aluminium segments should point north, use a compass or the North Star. A rough alignment is already sufficient. The direction of travel is set by N or S, depending on whether you are north or south of the equator. The rotary knob controls the speed.
Simply place the Dobson telescope on the platform. Start tracking on the east side and when you have reached the end after approx. 60 - 70 minutes, simply push it back again by hand
You will need a 9V battery. The EQ platform is supplied unpainted. This allows you to customise the platform to your Dobsonian.
