Control your Orion IntelliScope Reflector wirelessly with your Apple iPhone or iPad!
Use the Orion StarSeek Wi-Fi Module-to-IntelliScope Kit to use an iPhone or iPad running one of Orion’s interactive StarSeek star chart apps as a high-tech, wireless telescope hand controller for your Orion IntelliScope reflector. The included Orion StarSeek Wi-Fi Telescope Control Module creates a local Wi-Fi network between your iOS device and the telescope, allowing wireless manual control of the telescope usign the StarSeek app. This allows you to you use the beautiful and thoroughly detailed star charts of the Orion StarSeek app on your iPhone or iPad to obtain the directions to point your IntelliScope towards specific celestial sights. The best part is, since your iPhone or iPad doesn’t have to be physically tethered to the IntelliScope with cables, you can move around your telescope with wireless freedom while selecting celestial objects to manually point the telescope towards.
Make each IntelliScope stargazing session more interactive and entertaining with this convenient package. It allows you to use StarSeek’s thoroughly detailed and fun to use map of the night sky to select objects to observe. To use the StarSeek app to guide your IntelliScope to a particular celestial object, just hold up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the night sky and tap on the desired object. Or select an object from one of StarSeek’s object menus. Then, zoom out to reduce the scale of the star chart display. Zoom out enough to see both the position where the IntelliScope is currently pointed (the telescope cursor), and the position of the selected celestial object on the display screen. Next, simply move the telescope manually so the displayed telescope cursor moves toward and eventually overlaps the selected object. You can then zoom in on the star chart to more precisely center the telescope cursor on the selected object. Once you’ve placed the telescope cursor on top of the object, it will be visible in the telescope eyepiece. Hey, that’s cool! What’s more, you can use the interactive StarSeek app to explore more information about the object.
This convenient kit works with all Orion SkyQuest XTi and XXi IntelliScope Dobsonians, and our compact StarBlast 6i IntelliScope Reflector. You’ll also need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 4 or later, and with version 3.0 or later of any Orion StarSeek app installed (Std, Pro, or Max).
