The 5000 series accessory rail system consists of dovetail rails plus tube adapters for all Meade OTAs (SC and ACF) and for complete telescopes. This means that Meade ACF OTAs can be straightforwardly attached to various different mounts. In addition, a dovetail rail enables the mounting of counterbalance weights, guide scopes and photographic equipment or finder scopes to Meade telescopes. Holes have been milled into the rails in order to combine the highest stiffness with the minimum weight. Dovetail rails for the OTAs (8", 10", 12", 14" and 16") can be easily and rapidly attached to the telescopes using the mounting blocks supplied. The mounting blocks have the same curvature as the OTA, allowing a better and more solid fit.
