20 Sky Tours for Amateur Astronomers
Thomas Jäger
Glittering star clusters, glowing nebulae, distant galaxies: deep sky objects are fascinating, but often not easy to find with your own telescope. This book describes in an easy-to-understand way how to navigate the sky without losing your way. It describes search methods for modern computer controls as well as for telescopes without any technology.
In the practical section, 20 tours take you across the entire sky and show you the most beautiful objects for small and medium-sized telescopes. Each tour starts with a bright star that is easy to find, even for beginners, and then helps you locate fainter objects step by step. Detailed descriptions and search charts aid orientation, so that no additional sky atlas is required.
The Starhopper sky tours appeared in the astronomy magazine Interstellarum from 1994 to 2006. The most beautiful tours were selected from a total of 30 and have been reworked for this book.
