Find craters and other lunar features quickly and easily
The new generation of lunar atlases: user-friendly, detailed and clear! The entire front side of the moon, including libration areas, is depicted on 38 map pages. The display is based on the high-resolution mosaic of the camera on board the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter satellite, which is of extremely high quality. The photorealistic view shows uniform shadows that correspond to the lighting conditions in the morning and thus closely resemble observations between new moon and full moon in the evening sky.
The maps identify all named craters and secondary craters on the near side of the Moon. In addition, mare, mountains, valleys, rilles, furrows, domes and other lunar formations are marked on the maps. The impact, crash and landing sites of lunar probes are also marked.
A grid allows positions on the moon to be estimated. Opposite each map page is a data page with information on the position and extent of the formation. A brief description highlights special features and provides observation tips. Enlarged sections show interesting fine details at twice the original scale.
The water-repellent surface and spiral binding make the atlas ideal for outdoor use!
