The RC's light shield is very generously dimensioned. However, when very large sensors are used, stray light can pass past the secondary mirror through the light shield and into the camera. This results in a brightening of the image or, in the worst case, even arc-shaped reflections.
This stray light shield reduces the front diameter of the baffle tube slightly, thus preventing stray light from entering. The contrast is increased. Nevertheless, the free opening is large enough to illuminate even full-frame sensors.
The lens hood is very easy to attach; it is simply placed on the light shield tube and carefully fixed in place with the three grub screws. The screws only need to be tightened moderately; they simply prevent the lens hood from falling off the light shield tube.
