The aperture is a great photographic upgrade for your UNC or PHOTON Newton from Telescope Service. The star image is improved because the diffraction phenomena caused by the outer edge of the mirror and, above all, by the retaining clips are simply eliminated. The reduction in the free aperture by only a few millimetres is negligible.
Installation on the Newton is very easy. The primary mirror does not even need to be removed from the mirror cell.
- Remove the main mirror cell from the tube by loosening the side retaining screws.
- Pull out the cell with the mounted primary mirror.
- Remove the three retaining clips and place the aperture stop on the primary mirror.
- Now carefully reinsert the three retaining clips and secure them. It is sufficient if the clips press only lightly on the baffle ring.
- Then reinstall the primary mirror with the mount. If you have marked the position of the screws, you do not even need to adjust the telescope.
