Filters 50mm near IR filter, unmounted

The near infrared is currently still unexplored by amateur photographers in astronomy. This may be due to the fact that Si CCD cameras do not have sufficient sensitivity in the NIR. Perhaps many people are also unaware of what can be captured in the near infrared. Narrowband photography became known through images taken by the HST (e.g. Pillars of Creation – Eagle Nebula M16). NIR photography follows the development of narrowband photography and represents another possibility for photographers.
