Theauthor Rupert Hochleitner has a doctorate in mineralogy. His books on mineral identification have been published in fourteen languages. He was editor-in-chief of the mineral magazine LAPIS for many years. Since 1993, he has been deputy director of the State Mineral Collection in Munich.
