This holder allows you to take afocal photographs without camera shake and with reasonable focus. In this type of astrophotography, the camera is not placed in the focus of the optics, but behind the eyepiece, just like the eye during visual observation. By choosing a suitable eyepiece, high magnifications can be achieved and beautiful results can be obtained, especially in moon and planetary photography. Afocal photography is also suitable for nature and landscape photography if the optics show an upright and non-reversed image, as is the case with spotting scopes.
This mount is equipped with a quick-release fastener that allows the camera to be swivelled to the side, enabling quick switching between visual observation and photography without having to remove the camera each time.
The mount is suitable for both telescopes and spotting scopes. Eyepieces with a large eye relief should be used to minimise vignetting.
The holder is suitable for cameras with the following specifications:
- 1. The height from the bottom of the camera to the centre of the camera lens should be between 14 and 50 millimetres.
- 2. The distance between the camera's tripod socket and the camera lens should be between 13 and 85 millimetres.
- 3. The 1/4" photo thread should be less than 50 millimetres from the centre of the camera lens.
Please measure your camera accordingly before purchasing the adaptor.
