The Canon EOS Ra is a powerful, mirrorless full-frame camera for astrophotography. It offers all the features of the EOS R system – such as first-class low-light performance, a large AF range and the ability to use the extensive range of EF, EF-S and RF lenses. In addition, its infrared block filter (IR) ensures incredible shots of the starry night sky. This modified filter allows more Hα (hydrogen alpha) light to reach the sensor – four times more than with the conventional EOS R. This enables the EOS Ra to capture the red tones of diffuse nebulae. The enormous low-light capabilities enable autofocus that works down to -6 EV. The camera also offers 4K video, a rotating and tilting touchscreen and intuitive controls for quick response when shooting.
The Canon EOS Ra has already been astro-modified by the manufacturer. This distinguishes it from most other astro-modified cameras, which are usually modified by third parties.

- The electronic viewfinder (EVF) allows you to "see in the dark" with a focus range of up to -6 EV. The electronic viewfinder shows you the image exactly as it will be captured. With increased signal amplification (gain), you can see things in the dark that the human eye cannot see.
- The camera can be used with the extensive range of RF lenses and, with an adaptor, with all EF and EF-S lenses
- No need to worry about the weather – robust protection against dust and splashes allows use in harsh environments.
- You can shoot 4K videos or 4K time-lapse sequences of the night sky, taking advantage of all the grading benefits of 10-bit Canon Log for stunning astronomy films that show all the colours of the galaxy.
