The QHY 294c camera is based on the Sony IMX294C sensor. The sensor is back-illuminated with a quantum efficiency of max. 75%!
With this camera, high-resolution images with 11.6 megapixels are possible with all conceivable optics and with an incredibly low noise level of only 1e- RMS at the highest, 1.6e- RMS at unity and 6.8e- RMS at the lowest gain.
The full well capacity reaches peak values of nearly 65,000 electrons, just as much as a 9ym Pixel interline transfer sensor!
The camera is very compact, which is particularly useful for smaller, portable telescopes, but a small camera is also advantageous in special technical assemblies.
The integrated DDRII buffer memory of the QHY 294c cameras has a storage capacity of 256 MB (DDR3) and ensures that no images are lost during download. It is also a prerequisite for avoiding image loss or even being able to download images at all, even with low-performance PCs and USB 2.0. The camera achieves download rates of up to 16.5 frames per second at the highest resolution of 11.6 megapixels and 14-bit A/D conversion!
The camera requires an external power supply with 12V min. 3A. The power consumption is 8W (cooling off) up to 27W (100% cooling). The consumption at 12V is approx. 0.7 - 2.3A.
The operating software is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 and is supported by 32-bit and 64-bit systems. The "EZCap" recording software is included in the scope of delivery .
We also recommend the ASCOM-compatible software packages MSB AstroArt or MaxIm DL as well as the freeware SharpCap.
