Highspeed 520 fps camera - a 'rocket launcher' for your astronomy photos (G3M287C)
Is it working at the speed of light? One could almost believe that, because this camera can take a fantastic 520 frames per second, and at full chip resolution. The large 6.9ìm pixels also collect a lot of light. These pixels almost work like a panoramic window into space. So you capture sharp images of planets and even faint deep sky objects on the chip. This is the right camera for you if you have a modern, powerful computer with a USB 3.0 connection.
The advantages in a nutshell
- hyper-fast, especially for planets - with 520 fps when using a modern computer
- small chip with 728x544 pixel resolution for small amounts of data, USB 3.0 connection
- large 6.9ìm pixels for a lot of light in a short time
- high sensitivity - no shadowing of the sensor surface (which can be the case with other CMOS chips)
- ST-4 auto-guider connection - system communicates directly with your mount
- suitable for Microsoft Windows 7/8/10, with enclosed CD-ROM
State-of-the-art CMOS sensor with higher sensitivity
The heart of this camera is a new sensor from Sony using STARVIS and Exmor R technology which makes it possible to capture images of faint nebulae in an undreamt of way. But what is behind this? The special technology employs a back-illuminated sensor with extremely high sensitivity and producing less noise. Your exposures benefit from a clearer picture with finer details. The photodiodes remain completely free of shadowing, in contrast to ordinary sensors. That means that more light is available, allowing you to use shorter exposures for even faint astronomical objects. You also benefit from a level of contrast that shows your deep-sky objects beautifully.
Better pictures thanks to a rolling shutter
The CMOS sensor is equipped with a rolling shutter. The image is not recorded completely in one go, but one line of the chip is recorded at a time, while light continues to reach the other pixels. This also increases the sensitivity, reduces image noise and makes image acquisition faster.
