CMOS sensor with 8.92 mm diagonal: Extremely low readout noise with very high sensitivity!
The TS-Optics TS178M camera is equipped with a large 1/1.8" sensor. The new SONY STARVIS and Exmor R technology produces very low-noise images with high sensitivity. In addition, the particularly small pixels provide high resolution. The result is a very versatile camera that delivers excellent results for a wide range of requirements. The TS178M is particularly suitable for:
- Moon and planetary photography with very high detail resolution
- Sun photography (with a suitable filter) with very high detail resolution
- Photography of brighter nebulae and star clusters – exposure times of up to 2000 seconds are possible
- Images through line filters (sun and bright gas nebulae in H-alpha)
- Autoguiding camera (autoguiding connection is available)
Additional features:
- Easy adaptation thanks to T2 thread connection
- 14-bit ADC, switchable to 10-bit for greater speed
- Tilting mechanism: adjustable tilt
- DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) eliminates annoying dead pixels (hot and cold) from the image
- Autoguider connection
- USB 3.0 for fast image transfer
- 256 MB DDR3 cache
- Protection against overvoltage and excessive current
A 1.25"/T2 adaptor is included in the delivery. The camera can therefore be screwed in using the T2 thread or inserted into a 1.25" focuser. Also included are two 2-metre cables, one for the USB 3.0 connection to the computer and one for autoguiding on the mount via the ST4 connection.
Before connecting the camera, you should download and install the latest driver: Windows driver.
Mono or Color?
Mono:
- Capable of advanced techniques (LRGB, narrowband)
- Additional applications (spectrometry, photometry)
Colour:
- Convenient for RGB imaging
- No need for expensive filters and filter wheels
Both types of camera are capable of creating stunning astroimages, we can only recommend you pick the one that suits you best!
