With the HAE29, iOptron offers a mount with strain wave gears on both axes (Dual Strain Wave Gear SWG) that can support telescopes weighing up to 13.5 kg, but weighs only 3.6 kg itself! It also eliminates the need for a heavy counterweight with a bulky counterweight bar!
The black anodised, CNC-milled metal housing is not only visually appealing, but also a robust platform.
One of its unique features is an electronic friction brake. It stops the movement of the mount immediately in the event of an unintentional interruption of the power supply. After switching on, the mount calibrates itself automatically and also detects its position.
The HAE29 mount can be controlled via a computer – either via ASCOM/Commander for a Windows PC or a third-party INDI driver for macOS software.
Look for the designation HAE29B or C:
- The "C" models (versions with internal motherboard) with integrated Wi-Fi allow external control via a Smartphone/tablet using the iOptron Commander Lite app or an app such as Sky Safari; or via a Raspberry Pi using an INDI driver.
- The "B" models HAE29 mounts feature the 64-bit ARM-based iMate on-board computer with pre-installed KStars planetarium software and the Ekos control and automation tool with INDI drivers. With 32 GB of eMMC memory and a slot for a TF card (microSD) with up to 64 GB of storage space, the iMate is capable of recording a night's worth of images. The iMate is cross-platform and can be used with Windows, iOS, Linux, Android, etc. An HAE29B mount can also be controlled from a computer via the USB-C port on the mount base, either using ASCOM/Commander for a Windows PC or a third-party INDI driver for Mac OS software.
For those who prefer to use a handheld device, the optional 8411 Go2Nova® controller is available.
All versions of the HAE29 feature USB and 12V ports on the saddle for easier cable management. A carrying case is included.
