This Orion extension tube is specially designed to precisely centre 2" accessories - such as 2" eyepieces - in a 2" focuser. Many focuser tubes use screws or similar to secure eyepieces or other optical accessories, which can lead to them being held off-centre and hence to a skewed image. In order to prevent this, Orion's extension tube has a precision compression mechanism that precisely centres the accessory attached, making the adapter easy to use and especially well-suited for optically 'fast' telescopes.
