Hawke Frontier ED X Gen 2
The Hawke Frontier ED X Gen 2 series has been developed for discerning nature and birdwatchers who want to combine high optical performance with a robust, high-quality design. The lightweight magnesium body ensures high stability and precise handling, whilst the nitrogen-filled, waterproof and fog-free design enables reliable use in a wide range of weather conditions.
Interchangeable, rotatable eyepiece cups with defined click stops allow for comfortable adjustment of the eye relief. Water-repellent coatings on the objective lenses further facilitate use in damp conditions.
Optics – H7 System
The high-performance H7 system combines extra-low-dispersion glass with high-quality lanthanum glass elements in the eyepiece, as well as phase-corrected BAK-4 roof prisms with dielectric mirror coating.
The ED optics reduce chromatic aberrations and distracting colour fringing, whilst the lanthanum glass elements ensure a precise, detailed image. The fully multi-coated optics with broadband anti-reflective coating ensure high light transmission, natural colour reproduction and high-contrast images.
The wide-angle optics also provide an exceptionally generous and immersive field of view – ideal for quickly locating and tracking animals.
Frontier ED X 8x42 Gen 2
The Hawke Frontier ED X Gen 2 8x42 combines versatile 8x magnification with light-gathering 42 mm objective lenses and an exceptionally wide field of view. This makes it an excellent choice for demanding birdwatching and nature observation, particularly where a broad overview and high viewing comfort are required.
With a field of view of 142 metres at 1,000 metres, moving wildlife can be located quickly and followed with ease. The large 5.3 mm exit pupil also provides a bright viewing image and additional performance in less favourable lighting conditions.
A key feature of the 42 mm models is the addition of field-flattening lenses. These improve image quality towards the edge of the field of view and provide consistently high sharpness across a particularly wide viewing area.
A close focus distance of just 1.5 metres also allows detailed observation of nearby subjects. With a generous 22 mm of eye relief, the 8x42 provides particularly comfortable viewing, including for many spectacle wearers. At 790 grams, its robust premium construction makes it a powerful all-round binocular for extended observation sessions.
