Polarization mechanism

With this device, you can convert your Euromex X or C series microscope into a polarising microscope.

It consists of a polariser and analyser, which only allow light of one plane of vibration to pass through the objective. This process is called "polarisation". For double polarised light, the polariser and analyser must be arranged at a 90° angle.

The analyser is pushed over the eyepiece.

The polariser is mounted in a clip-on table (100 x 65 mm). Rotatable object holder Ø 68 mm, with object clamps, rotatable through 360°, readable in 5° increments.

Some minerals have the property of"double refraction" of light. By slightly turning the polariser or analyser, the plane of polarisation transmitted changes. This can be seen by the colour that appears. This allows the composition of the sample being examined to be determined.
