The Pentax PF-80ED represents a new concept in the class of high-quality spotting scopes. It was developed for the needs of demanding nature observers and sport shooters in the USA. The built-in ED glass objective lens, in combination with the SMC-coated Porro prisms and the nitrogen-filled, waterproof tube (JIS Class 6), delivers top performance in terms of brightness, sharpness and resolution even under difficult conditions, and thanks to its balanced price-performance ratio, it has no reason to hide behind its European competitors.
However, the biggest advantage of the PF-80ED over other suppliers is that you can use the world-renowned SMC Pentax XW eyepieces, which redefined the standard in astronomy a few years ago in terms of viewing comfort, build quality, sharpness, contrast and the absence of the usual aberrations.

- The Pentax PF-80ED has an exceptionally lightweight tube construction made from magnesium
- ED glass for significantly improved resolution
- Large 80 mm objective lens for bright images in all light conditions
- The tube has the internationally standard 1 1/4" (31.7 mm) connection, which not only allows the use of SMC Pentax XW eyepieces, but also those from other manufacturers who use this plug diameter. This gives you hundreds of possible combinations. No other world-class manufacturer offers this variety.
- The tube construction, including the eyepiece mount, has special O-ring seals that allow nitrogen filling, which not only protects the spotting scope from the notorious fogging that occurs during climate changes, but also makes it waterproof according to JIS Class 6.
- An extendable protective cap protects against stray light and protects the objective lens from rain
- A particularly large focusing knob allows for comfortable and precise focusing
- Built-in tripod connection with lockable rotation connection for comfortable viewing at all times
- SMC coating on all optical surfaces to maximise transmission, sharpness and contrast
- When using SMC Pentax XW eyepieces, the adjustable eyecups ensure optimal viewing for both eyeglass wearers and those with normal vision
- The spotting scope is protected against shock and damage by a rubber armouring
