Microscopy in polarised light offers some important information in addition to bright field that is not available with other techniques: refractive index, birefringence, optical delay, extinction angle and pleochroism. The polarising microscope is particularly well known for applications in geology, mainly for the examination of minerals and stones in thin sections, but it can also be used for the analysis of other materials. Optika's polarising microscopes offer a complete system for laboratory analysis; polarisation and analysis filters, Bertrand lens for konoscopic observation, λ-slips and a high-precision rotary table. An X-LED illumination system provides bright and sharp images.
The proven B-500 series is no longer manufactured by Optika. Replacement parts are still available.
