The press of a button switches between vertical and oblique illumination or mixed lighting and regulates the light intensity.

Use the flat transmitted lighting unit to show high contrast with coloured, transparent samples using bright-field or dark-field illumination. Use the polarizer/analyzer to observe, for example, double-refracting crystals or frozen stresses in glass or plastic.
