Outstanding optical performance
The optics of the SZX16 (observation tubes, zoom body and lenses) are fully apochromatic to minimise chromatic aberrations across the entire magnification range. Super depth of field (SDF) lenses deliver clear, high-contrast images of virtually any sample – from micrometre-sized defects to cell component structures.
The maximum NA of 0.3 produces a resolution of 900 line pairs per mm, making fine microscopic cell and cell component structures clearly visible. Excellent resolution and unrivalled magnification make work more efficient and precise, providing much more information about the samples.
This higher resolution also means that the stereo microscope can distinguish smaller, more closely spaced features in components, which is essential for high-precision fault analysis and quality control. Detect microcracks or fractures, scratches or contamination on the surface, or manufacturing defects that are not visible at lower resolutions.
High zoom factor of 16.4:1
The SZX16 offers an ultra-high zoom ratio of 16.4:1, which provides a magnification of 7x-115x with a 1x objective and up to 230x with a 2x objective.
This large zoom range makes the model ideal for a wide variety of research analysis applications that require both low-magnification macro overviews for dissection and sample manipulation, as well as sharp, highly magnified images of microstructures.
In error analysis and quality control testing, this ultra-wide zoom range is ideal for inspecting large components or assemblies, right down to defects in the micrometer range, such as cracks, scratches or dirt particles.

Tripod SZX2-ILLTQ LED
With a slim profile of 41.5 mm – about half the thickness of conventional halogen lamp transmitted light bases – our LED transmitted light bases offer a lower height for a more comfortable viewing angle and easier access to the base-mounted samples during observation and operation.
- The SZX2-ILLTQ LED illumination base features a quadruple revolver that allows quick selection of cartridges and seamless switching between bright field (standard/high/low), oblique field (standard/high/low), dark field, polarised lighting and shutter with a simple turn.
Another advantage of LED lighting is a cooler base surface, making it more suitable for long-term processing of living samples. Compared to a conventional 30 W halogen light source, LED lighting consumes less power and offers a significantly longer service life – over 60,000 hours – helping to reduce operating costs.
