The Acuter Elite Phoenix 40 is a safe solar telescope equipped with a 40 mm Etalon filter on the front. It allows observation of the sun's chromosphere in H-alpha light with a half-width of 0.6 Angstrom. This makes protuberances, sunspots and other details on the sun visible! The Etalon is fine-tuned using a pressure tuning system.
You can safely align the telescope with the sun using the integrated solar finder.
The zoom eyepiece included in the delivery allows you to make observations. It offers a variable focal length of 5 to 16 millimetres. This corresponds to a magnification of 25 to 80 times. Of course, other eyepieces with a 1.25" barrel can also be used.
The telescope comes with a universal smartphone adaptor so that you can capture your observations with your mobile phone.
Also suitable for night use: The telescope comes with not only a solar finder, but also a red dot finder. A diagonal mirror is also included in the scope of delivery. Unscrew the Etalon filter in front of the objective and replace the block filter with the diagonal mirror. Place the red dot finder on the tube. After this simple conversion, you have a telescope for night use.
With a suitable white light filter, you can also use the telescope to observe the sun in the continuous spectral range, which is ideal for studying sunspots. At dusk, you can easily switch from solar observation to observing the moon and planets. The ELITE PHOENIX 40 is very versatile, especially for observing the sun, moon and planets!
Altazimuth GoTo mount for solar observing - It couldn't be simpler!
Skywatcher's clever and innovative SolarQuest™ mount is extremely user-friendly and makes solar tracking when using a solar telescope particularly easy by automatically finding and tracking the Sun.
Just set up the tripod to be fairly level and point the solar telescope somewhat to the left of the Sun, Skywatcher's revolutionary solar observing HelioFind™ technology will then do the rest! By pressing just a single button, the telescope is then levelled and the mount calculates the altitude and azimuth of the Sun with the help of GPS data, based on the local time and observing site. The telescope is then slewed to the required elevation and the mount begins to search for the Sun in a clockwise direction. The solar sensor detects the Sun and ensures that it subsequently remains in the eyepiece's field of view (tracking).
The Solarquest is easy to transport and quiet in operation.
The mount is battery operated. But using a power supply is also possible - DC 12V, tip positive.
A great help for observing sunspots, solar eclipses, surface details on the Sun and solar transits of the inner planets!
